Are you excited for the first Black princess? Did you know when you support Walt Disney you are actually supporting subliminal racism? Walt Disney HATES African American males. Allegedly, Walt Disney’s psychological team knew that showing children a Black man in a positive light could actually change the way Blacks felt about themselves for the better and out right said “NO!” Sources say that they intentionally chose to perpetuate the poor misinformed view of Black men. I would NOT support this film. Several Black Walt Disney employees report on the job racism and claim to be overlooked for promotion continually.
Why is it that every other princess aside from Pocahontas and Belle (who is actually with a beast) is matched with a male of the same race? Is it because they view the Native American and Black male as inferior? They actually hooked a princess up with a beast before a Black male. And now that we FINALLY made it in, they aren’t even promoting Black love? Damn Disney! Blatant racism.
I guess they feel like if they throw us a bone we should shut up and accept it. It may seem like we’re “always complaining”. Yeah… when you don’t give us the justice we deserve then we are going to complain. I’m not supporting this myself, are you??

We should really boycott this outrage and have them take it back to the drawing board and COME CORRECT!
“Sources say” ?
I’m going to need you to be more specific than that. I’m not disputing the possible validity of the notion that Disney hates black men, but if you want what you write to be taken seriously, you will have to be more specific than “sources say.” Fox News, who we know hates black people, uses “sources say” all the time to support their lies. Please come more correct than this.
It is somewhat curious that Disney is rolling out its first black princess but not its first black prince. Could it be that if the prince were black it would possibly change the dynamics of the story? Instead of being just a love story, it would become a black love story, therefore applicable to black people only resulting in whites not patronizing the film.
Ever since birth, my Mom banned Disney from the household. 20 years later, i see why.
Damn, why you reading so hard into Beauty & the Beast?! ‘Beast before a black male’? *sigh*
This black princess story came out weeks ago too.
I read another online community who’s been having posts about this film for months, and every time, it turns into a racial discussion for two reasons. First is that, of course, there’s finally an animated “Disney Princess” film with a large number of visibly Black main characters (unlike the lion king) and Disney has a very long history of portraying negative racial stereotypes in its older films. The second reason is the choice to use a non-Black man to play the prince. Whenever anyone brings up the fact that it’s wrong for them to be sending the message that Black love isn’t worth portraying or that Black men can’t be princes, there’s at least ten people to say that it’s 2009 and, because of the time we’re living in, it’s more important at this point to reflect an “interracial” love scenario.
I personally fall on the side of thinking that it sends a horrible message for Black men and Black love, but at the same time, we do live in a time when interracial relationships hold more societal value, and at least part of that is because Black love isn’t something that we as a community (I’m talking about US, Black people) strive for and support.
No one is really in an uproar right now, but imagine if it was a Black man with a white female. Black females would be going crazy, and it would be wrong with them for so many reasons. I can hear it now, “why they gotta have him with a white woman!” But when it’s the Black male taking the loss, not even they stand up for him.
The black man with the white female already happens a lot in TV and film Ewbar, and the uproar has already happen….I think that the point here would be why there are no stories about TWO black lovers. I think that that attitude just supports the divide and conquer mentality to get upset and single out who is disrespected more.
Agreed. It isn’t about who is disrespected more.
I think movies and TV shows based on day to day reality is one thing, you know? They base it on things that might actually happen. There are plenty of interracial relationships around in adult reality. But Disney’s films are fictional fantasy for children to observe. The Black sons have been excluded once again from seeing themselves in a positive light. They get shown the negative Black male imagine every day. This was an opportunity to show them something different and Disney failed to do so.
Yeah, i mean when it comes down to it, it really is just the white character with brown skin..not to downplay the effort t have a black princess..but they are definately not putting no black princes with a fro or dreadlocks are a wider nose.naw mean?..not to say that wider nose is a “MORE” african feature, but I hope you’ll get what Im saying.
and Lion King really doesn’t count cuz the black people were lions…no faces shown and there is also the fact that simba’s voice was done by awhite boy but his singing voice was a black boy..
too many typos!!..sorry
I want be going to see that bull. They want our melanin by any means necessary so there promoting interracial black and white couples.
Yeah, I have some trepidation about how the Black characters in this movie will be portrayed. Aside from the fact that the prince isn’t a Black man, there are going to be many Black main characters and I’m just nervous, given Disney’s track record; however, I’m glad that they’ve finally made the effort, so it’ll be interesting to see how they execute. Aside from her hair, the princess appears to have been given Black features, rather than just a darker skin tone on a White-looking drawing.
The fact that they chose not to portray a Black love story is an issue that I addressed in my previous comment, but I want to say again how sad I think it is, and that only we can bring the importance of our relationships with each other to light by living in a way that honors them.
Edited to add: Also, I don’t mean to downplay the insult to Black men and boys by Disney basically saying that they can’t be princes. I’m eternally grateful that we have a number of real-life examples of courageous Black men to point to for our little boys, but unfortunately Black men aren’t often given the role of the romantic gentleman (who isn’t a player).
hmmmmph,hmmmph,hmmmmph….
I’m at a loss of words right now. I read the posts and saw the trailer. My 3 daughters and 1 son will NOT be seeing this movie.
Its funny that people constantly go on about racism. What about marketing? Has anyone checked the demographic of the people that watch the movies?
Americans would not flock to see a ‘princess’ movie that dealt with Chinese princes and princesses. In fact there have never been American Princess or Princesses to historically base any of this stuff on. The movies are made for the audience that watches them to connect with, and until the majority of the audience is not the white middle-class movie going public, it only makes sense to have the characters dominated by white American accented characters.
Its not racist or anything like it, its business and you all know it….so lighten up. Its not fair to gripe about historical Disney movies form the 30’s or 40’s. Don’t you remember what life was like for minorities back then? It was awful, so it should be no surprise that the movies looked the way they did. It was a time in history.
In modern times, an integrated society has a different view and entertainment is reflecting that. There are more varied shows on television, leading males in cinema, and for Gods sake most of the music on the charts today is not by your average white American!
Animation is always different, because its demographic is different, and those movies cost a small fortune and years to make, so they can’t take too many risks. When society is using the word ‘racist’ less, I suspect you will have more integrated movies, because the demographic will be more likely to make them money. Its life, its society…. make society better and it will all be a happy place….
David look at the movie Mulan bu Disney. Your an idiot.
A. Most of Disney’s films are based off of old fairy tales…trust me I know I studied them in college way back before Hans Christian Andersen made them to be read by children they were all of Eastern European descent. So Disney has nothing to do with choosing the race. Its just geography. How weird would it be to see white people in an animated African fairy tale? Pretty damn weird. Now think of it vice versa…
B. POCAHONTAS IS BASED OF HISTORY! So thats why she’s hooked up with that white boy.
Hope this has cleared up some stuff brother, just chill and enjoy your cartoons ya grown ass man.
I’m not so sure on this one.
If the Black Female was not so universally dumped upon (even by many idiotic Black men) I might be screaming for a Black Prince. But the truth is that Black men have faired far better in the politics of interracial attraction than Black women. The reasons are way too complicated to go into at this moment, but it all goes back to the originally imposed racial stereotypes and how the very same syereotypes can be translated much differently based on gender. Suffice to say that it is definitely not because there is anything wrong with Black women.
But to the point. Part of the new politics of interacial attraction is the reality that Black women are often seen as ONLY BEING ATTRACTIVE TO BLACK MEN. Yes, the rest of the world can start looking over the color lines with growing interest, but somehow, Black females are seen as undesireable to all but a few loyal men of their own ethnicity. I’m not arguing that this view is a correct one, only that it is pervasive.
So, if Disney displays a Black Princess with a Black Prince, the rest of the world say’s “Sure, they’re just throwing a bone to Black activists.” But if Disney Shows their Black Princess with a White Prince—falling in love with her, admiring her beauty, risking his life for her—then it may speak more for the universal worth and broader appeal of Black female beauty and attraction than simply going down the expected route of Black + Black.
Hey Ewbar is a fool for this one. And the black women always stressing comment was a great point. Where yall at? lol….. But i you all make very valid points. Regardless of what you all say when you think about it a black prince isn’t really wise. Just read the post about the black man’s penis. If we were to have and interracial “fairy tale” then how would that make the upper class white man feel? His daughter growing up playing with the Ken Doll and then bringing home the black boyfriend. Then his family linage be a bunch of black babies. He wud go nuts and hate even harder. It’s already hard enough avoid court cases with these “white chicks”. And a new generation that sees the fairy tale, man….. My nephew wouldn’t have a chance. Let’s just take it slow. lol
But on the black + black story it sounds like a great idea i think it wud make a good story while portraying the black man in a positive light.
But I agree, I think Tyler Perry would make one before old Walt does.
people are color coded for a reason. im not saying anyone couldnt or shouldnt get along, just that one should preserve the precious natural blessing of your race. im white and im happy to be so, just as anyone who isnt might find delight in being whichever. respet yourself, respect your race.
kirchebrenner.
Saus Und Braus!
@ kirche
“people are color coded for a reason”
Yes, I agree! That’s why blondes should never date non-blondes, and redheads should only date other gingers! However, anyone born with dark brown hair makes an excelent match!
I’m glad that I was able to find someone else online who is as smart as I am.
Perhaps Disney recognizes the mass of ignorance, rap bagning, and good for nothingness associated with the African American male in modern day U.S…What has the black man done today to uplift his women?- Call them hoes and bitches while being hypocritical to how they really feel in an attempt to sell records. They dumb it down and disrespect it up on purpose. The black woman doesn’t deserve this and PERHAPS Disney recognizes the constant struggle of the blk woman with the cheating, lying, manipulative blk man who blames the ‘hood’. Therefore the statement being made is black women deserve better than African American males today and when they start acting right, then maybe you will see them on the big screen… until then I support Disney casting every other type of black males except AA’s.
I have been saying for years that disney is racist and have done every race but black people in animated movies. There are many african tales that could have been used as a basis. I have been waiting for another disney movie that is 2-d but I am disappointed in this one. I will not and my child will not be seeing it. I believe to that another reason disney has not had any black princess films is because there would be these kinds of complaints about it. however, i do defintely feel that the man male character should have been black And not this goofy ken looking white dude.
I think you are reading too far into this whole thing!!!! How can you say that it is Walt Disney who is the actual rasict! Pretty sick talking about a dead man like that, especially when it was not him who has made these modern films. So you really think he specified before dying that he never wanted black princes in his movies?! Grow up! It is people like you who are keeping rascism alive by highlighting such a pathetic point! I am a woman of colour myself but I don’t like the way you refer to black people as “WE” as in seperating colours as though different species! And why do you feel the need to talk about interracial relationships as though it is a bad thing!? By highlighting the point that race within relationships, regardless of whether he is a prince or not, is even a deal you are taking a massive step back in society!! “several employees” and “sources say” is not a reliable source of imformation! And not cause to accuse a legend, who continues to bring joy to people’s lives, of hating black men!
I was very upset to read this crap, but I think everyone has made a good point. Stop looking for the conspiracy.
The other princes are quite stupid too. It’s all about the the princesses. Everyone is not out to get you and “the Man” is not all bad. We are all in this together.
Are you saying you are racist and that interracial marrage is wrong? I kind of see this as progressive.
I agree with what Uncle Remus said about promoting interracial marriage. I do not give a damn about how not adding a black man as a prince is wrong. I’m a black man that is interested in women outside my race only, as long as they despise astrology as much as I do. I can’t wait to see this movie in theaters because I plan to make an extremly violent video game featuring a black man involved in an interracial relationship. So to all the black people that say Walt Disney hates black men, chill out. Interracial love is much stronger than same race love.
Wow… for those who get it I am happy for you. For those who cannot see the truth before your eyes, I’m not sure what to say!
We started to get off topic in some of these responses posted. The bottom line is that an African prince is long overdue. And furthermore, an African relationship is wayyyy overdue!
The politics behind it justifies not showing Black love? Every race has its good and its bad. That’s a bunch of bull if you ask me.
Thanks to Black men like Ewbar, I will tell the women of my race that I will sodomize them automatically. No wonder why Black women are on the rise of being single. I will always make sure to tell black women not to approach me sexually. I will deal with women outside my race to spite certain black people that hates interracial marriage.
OMG!!!!! what is wrong with people!!?…..That is sooooo wrong!!!!!.Most of disneys things or movies have little messages that mean HUGE things that people dont ever see!….I have ben watching these movies when I was little and never thought of this!…IM PRAYING FOR DISNEY!
Why shouod they have a Black Prince. Black men want to date/marry anything but a BW now you are mad because they don’t have you in a fairy tale with a Black female and you get all upset about it. I am glad that there is not a Black Prince.
I agree with you man, i see this every day, even with the e harmony commercials you see black men/women with white, Asians anything other than black. I think that we as blacks need to stop trying to be in everything that whites are into, show them that we don’t want to be them in anyway. The same thing happened in the sixties(60’s), we wanted to go to their schools, when we could of had our own school to learn about who we truly are. I will not be taking my niece to see this movie when it comes out, i want her to know that there are still some black prince charming out there for her.
Who said anything about following the white man? Black people should know that it’s the environment that determines your nature, not heredity. If I was born in Africa, I probably would be bored with my life because most Africans have prejudice in their genetics just like most white men. Me as a black male being around the people of race the whole time made me realize that I seriously need to be in an interracial relationship with a female of my interest. I can’t allow any black person to force me to date a black woman because of what they see on TV or dwell upon. And Omega, I ask you this. If you is so deadset in making a school only for black people, what can you really benefit at the fact you’re showing an extreme prejudice because of the sixties era? Telling your niece that she can’t see this movie because it deals with different race romance makes me think of you as a monster that will cause your niece to backfire your plans of making her think that black males are only good for her. The Princess and the Frog will be a movie I plan to see in theaters because of different race romance. Racists, don’t need them no more on this planet.
Enragedtitan
Haha! It often takes a true African to come in and school the supposedly “Afrocentric!”
omega, free your mind and the rest will follow.
Any Mous, I don’t know whether to be insulted or concerned at your comment. At least you’re letting Omega know that she can’t isolate her niece or her other relatives from seeing a movie due to racial issues. If the world was completely prejudice, I would have never found out about my great grandfather on my dad’s side was a German Born Jew or my great grandmother on my mom’s side was Indian. I know now that in the world of today, you have follow your path and believe in yourself.
Why would you be insulted, since I was agreeing with your statement?
Word to your mother.
I apologize to you Any Mous for accusing you. Anyways, The Princess and the Frog will be in theaters Dec. 11, 2009 and there’s a good chance I might enjoy it because this Disney movie breaks the barrier of racial inequality in relationships and it has the adventurous details most Disney movies through the years.
This is never going to changes until we start making our own films. We can sit here and complain about it or just do something.I`m sure that there is alot of black cartoon artist that should unite and just do there own thing. But you know that thats the root of the problem.NO BLACK UNITY.You know with all the Oprans,Tyler, and all the other black movie and business moguls, this shouldn`t be a problem.Damm Adam Sandler made his own cartoon(8 crazy nights). So with that being said, how can they be expected to write films about black love when we dont show it .Much love xfactor one……
Xfactor, when you say “we” who are you talking about?
African Americans….I say this because we(African Americans )can sit here and cry about how its not fair and its wrong. Its never going to change until WE (AFRICAN AMERICANS) CHANGE…….Xfactor one…
I think that people throw around the word racist waaay too much. Now if Disney’s films had Black people being abused, attacked, isolated, downtrodden, etc that didn’t relate directly to the historical content of the story, then I would be concerned.
Do I think Disney (the corporation) is racist? Absolutely not. Do I think they are prejudiced? Certainly. Do I think they are trying to maitain a certain image/demographic? Of course. Even if they were trying to keep Blacks down in the company (which is unjust, yes) I could understand that because they are trying to keep things as traditional (read: White) as possible without being completely unprogressive. Thats just how the politics of the company go. And you’ve got to cut them some slack. They’re trying not to leave minorities out. So they didn’t make the prince Black. Big deal. Its an African American centered storyline, they did a darn good job with the animation of Tiana, and it takes place in New Orleans, a culture that I don’t think the majority of children (especially White ones) are familiar with.
Would I have liked to see a Black prince? Yeah, that would have been nice, but baby steps are fine for now. I do not think Disney hates Black males. Some commenters have made good points on both sides of the story, but I think this article was immaturely and poorly argued. Hate is a strong word and it shouldn’t be used so lightly. I doubt the writer or anyone who accuses Disney of being racist knows much about real hatred of Blacks. I don’t mean that to be insulting or condescending. In fact, its a good thing. Look at how much things have changed in the past century (which is not that long if you’re looking at the big picture). Instead of being so quick to judge and criticize, we should embrace this monumental, albeit incomplete, advancement on Disney’s part and then strive for more gradual change.
At least give the movie a chance. It hasn’t even hit theaters yet and already some have dug their heels in the ground. I love Disney, despite its glaring inadequacies. It has been a cornerstone in my childhood, and I turned out just fine: proud to be Black, and still receptive of others. In fact, I’m at an HBCU…okay thats kind of off topic.
I will not boycott, protest, or otherwise resist this movie. When it comes out, I’m going to go watch it and I’ll take whatever little kid wants to go with me. If I like it I’ll buy it. If I don’t I won’t. Simple of that.
Final thought: Please stop throwing around words like ‘hate’ and ‘racism’ when they don’t apply.
I attended a screening of the movie at which the director, two producers, and Anika Noni Rose (such grace and talent) were present. I had also wondered why the prince wasn’t of African descent, and when someone posed the question, the answer given was that they thought it would be cool to have him from some faraway land that couldn’t be located on a map. Not really satisfactory.
However, it may hearten you to know that the princess’ parents are both African-American (voiced by Oprah Winfrey and Terrence Howard) and are depicted as having a strong, supportive, loving marriage.
I agree with you Cami, like most articles on this website this one was written quite poorly and the astonishing overuse of the most simple shocking words as hate and racism for the sensation they will cause only points out that this was written by a very blinded by rage Black person.
You already explained how The Disney machine works better than I could so kudos for you.
Xfactor, you make a helluva point. Be the change you want to see in the world. Complaining is easy. Make an effort and show us what you want to see.
It’s like complaining at Mc Donald’s for not selling tacos and then calling them racist. Any company should be entitled to sell whatever they want to sell to the audience they want to cater to. Disney is not a role model, Disney is not your grandma telling you bedtime stories. Disney is a business corporation.
http://unrealitymag.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/disney-princes.jpg
Men, you should know.. it’s not even about you. Boy don’t watch Disney movies. Boys like X-Men.
*boys
Theres alot rotten with Disney, not least of which its weird sexualization of kids; when did one mega corporation become the sole arbiter of the entire globe’s childrens’ dreams? Does anyone else find this insanely creepy?
Weclome to the machine indeed
*Welcome
ah but Diseny IS a role model, your grandma spinnig stories by the hearth, thats its whole IMAGE. YOur picture Lola seems to explicitly spell out the role of Disney in conditioning our children in subtle & not-so-subtle ways.
Id agree with your assesment if they hadn’t become the giant empire they are who practically OWN the market in regard to kids.
i think this article is getting at the feeling if totally in a roundabout way. Its not really about race, its about the inordinate power of all mighty Di$ney
Cami i have to give you your props,When i read the word Hate Black Males it filled me with anger. My anger is because as a kid there was nobody i could look up to to save the day that look like me.And even if Disney didn`t make the prince a black man i agree that its a good start.75% of the charactors are black.whats more important is that if changes are going to be in the Movie Business We as Black men and women are going to have to Master the craft.
“if changes are going to be in the Movie Business We as Black men and women are going to have to Master the craft.”
You mean like we have in the music world with all of our Black music producers in charge of the uplifting and positive messages we get there?
Well King,That’s a whole different ball of wax. That positive messages is long gone,But i have faith that it will return one day.The bigger problem is the loss of Black Love, not from the world view but from your community.Everybody in the music industry just want to get paid.Black ,White, brown, red, yellow. So they could care less about what the message is.If WAIT TO YOU SEE MY !@#$$ is going to sell 500 million copies and get them a Mayback and a mantion
sorry Brain Fart….lol…The point i was trying to make was that if we turn them off, and tune them out.Refuse to buy, refuse to listen, refuse to watch, they will have no choice but to Change the message…XFACTOR…
Xfactor, I want and wish the same things that you do. Perhaps we all wish for those positive things. But if you think that this will come about because people who share our particular skin color make more movies, then I think that you’re deceiving yourself. If you truly believe that somehow Hollywood will be less about the money than the music industry is then I don’t know what to say. The answers are not found in skin color politics. We already have the Spike Lees, the John Singletons, the Tyler Perrys, the Oprah Winfreys, the Wynan brothers. If the message you seek is not out there, it’s no longer because people who look like you aren’t making movies.
King,Your absolutly correct,I beleive that hollywood and the music industry are one in the same.of coarse we have the Tyler Perrys, the Oprah Winfreys, the Wynan brother ????well i guess maybe what i should have said was people who share the same hope and wishes that you and i do.Get together and start to make a better brand of movies….Xfactor….
On that we can agree, Xfactor.
Stay positive.
King
I agree with King and Vemming on this one. Why should there be a black Prince? Black men have abandoned black women in the worst way, and it’s nice to see a man of another race step up to the plate (even if it is just a cartoon LOL). I’m really excited about this film and I can’t wait to see it. It’s about damn time. I LOVE Disney!
Okay.so have you ever heard of the Willie Lyche letters????If so do you beleive that this could still be in effect?….oh and i will be taking my daughters to see this movie…..XFACTOR …ONE.
I understand that this is today’s society, and the world is ever changing. And, it appears that Disney may be putting forth an effort in having the first Black princess. However, why not put forth the effort to have a Black Male prince. People with the opportunity and the means should never destroy the dreams of the young. Even images are powerful, and dreams, and achievements allows people to see others like themselves to grow and have positive hopes. Like seeing the first Black President. If has been well over 50 years, and Disney like most Americans need to stop making excuses and grow beyond what they believe their perceptions are about others (in particular Black Males). Yes, it’s ok to have a Black princess and a White prince, but when will the day come when American society will truly see the Black Male as a positive role in society and not just another after thought or inhuman to be totally ignored. Opraph and her associate movie artists, actors, athletes, businessmen, should get together and create their own movies (including full featured cartoons) reflecting positive roles for not only Black Males but for all Americans that are currently left behind.
@Sherman….Well, America has seen a black male in a positive role in society. It was Tiger Woods up until a few weeks ago LOL. With his squeaking clean, billion dollar image. And what did he do, marry a white nanny. A nanny? Then had multiple affairs with tons of white women with no class, screw Tiger Woods…Or wait, that won’t happen, he doesn’t like black women LOL. I’ve had interracial relationships, so I KNOW white/asian/hispanic men find black women attractive. Disney is just helping to bring it out to forefront.
“@Sherman….Well, America has seen a black male in a positive role in society. It was Tiger Woods”
What? I thought he was “Canablasian.”
Speaking of positive black men, I can think of Will Smith and Obama. Now everybody keep your fingers cross and pray that they don’t mess up LOL! Since becoming the first lady, Michelle has been on the cover of just about every magazine you can think of. It’s so WONDERFUL to finally be able to see a woman that looks like me gracing the covers of fashion magazines! Get that money Michelle! LOL!
so wot if he is.. he’s DEAD!!.. and the cartoon is just that a CARTOON.. dnt watch it is you dnt like it.. but it a EVERDAY occurance.. live wit it.. your cryin ova spilt milk here..
This is bullshit. He’s black enough. And what are those saying? Only black women can be with black men? Should we support interracial relationships?? Gosh, I think people don’t realize they’re racist themselves.
oh my gosh! im sorry but this was a really retarded article! ok
1) Mulan: true story, of course they are going to be of the same race
2) Pocahontas: true story they are gonna change it a little bit but john smith and pocahontas really did fall in love
3) Aladdin: based off of an old arabian folk story about the arabian princess and the arabian peasent falling in love becuase the boy found a magic lamp
4)Snow White, Cinderella, and Sleeping Beauty: All previously written stories, they were not written by disney
5)The Little Mermaid: Sailor Stories and previously written folk stories. also not written by disney. they described the mermaid With skin as white and as soft as newly fallen snow, but, what the sailors did not know, was that it was just a ploy, a trap for the sailors to fall in love with the mermaid and be taken to her undersea world where he would be kept for all of eternity.
6) Beauty And the Beast: it was originaly a story written by a french the original name of the book was Belle and the Beast.
dont blame disney for these stories blame the original authors and pure fate! Disney was just carrying on the art of story telling they didnt come up with any of these stories. (except for The Princess and the Frog)
btw, are kids going to know the difference?
……..so what’s wrong with a vaguely Brazilian male marrying a Black woman? Is interracial marriage not actually a step forward? As part of an interracial couple, why can’t I be offended by all the movies that do pair same race couples together instead of supporting an actual change in society?
Some people never look at the positive in anything.
I was recently called a skull cracker. Does anyone know what this is?
